The house was built in 1698 by Robert Benson, 1st Lord Bingley, in the style of the great Tuscan villas he had seen on a grand tour of Europe. Its 66 acres of pleasing grounds in the style of 'le Notre' - designer of the gardens at Versailles - are all green vistas, temples and the gleam of distant water. The Lane Fox family, direct descendants of Robert Benson, still live at Bramham Park. ....
